DMI THERAPY

Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a comprehensive, hands-on therapeutic technique used by physical and occupational therapists to treat children with gross motor impairments. It focuses on provoking specific, automatic movement responses to improve postural control, balance, and functional milestones like sitting or walking. DMI is suitable for children of all ages, including infants, with various neurological conditions.

KEY ASPECTS OF DMI THERAPY

  • Purpose: To improve neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to form new neural connections—leading to improved motor skills.

  • Methodology: Therapists use hands-on, often distal (far from the trunk) support to encourage a child to move, reducing support as they improve.

  • Key Focus Areas: Alignment, range of motion, and sensory integration.

  • Target Population: Children with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, hypotonia (low muscle tone), global developmental delays, and genetic disorders.

  • “My children had the privilege of attending this wonderful center. Ms. Beth has had my children since since they were four months old, and although my twins have graduated from the program, we can confidently say that she is left such a great impact on my children's lives. We are so blessed to have had her and Jessica. Everyone at the center has had an impact on our children in some way or another. We can't even drive past this building without my kids yelling to go back.”

  • “Fly High pediatric therapy is a top tier center! My son has been attending Fly High since he was fresh out of the NICU at 6 months old. I have watched him grow and get stronger with the help of Bethany and her staff. Everyone cheers for your victories big or small whether you are under the care of a certain therapist or not. My Maverick is 2 years old now and he is doing things I thought I’d never see him do. He has a disability and watching him ENJOY therapy is very warming. Not only do they care about your child but they care for your family. I recommend Fly High Pediatric Therapy to anyone seeking any kind of physical, occupational, speech or feeding therapy for their child. They go above and beyond for you and your child. Thank you Fly High for everything you have done for my son and everything you continue to do.”

  • “We’ve had such a wonderful experience at Fly High Pediatric Therapy Center! The environment is welcoming, fun, and perfectly designed for kids. From the custom-built playhouse with a slide to the balance beams, play kitchen, and all the engaging toys, everything feels thoughtful and exciting for little ones. Lauren (PT) and Allison (OT) are both incredible. They are patient, encouraging, and truly know how to connect with kids while helping them grow and build confidence. Therapy never feels like “work” here, it feels like play, which makes such a difference.”

  • “The best pediatric clinic! So happy my daughter attends therapy here! The environment and staff are all so supportive and friendly. My daughters skills are improving because there dedication to her success! The state should award this clinic with a trophy 10 STARS!”

  • “We are so incredibly grateful for Fly High and the care they have shown our family. They have been working with my son since he was just 6 weeks old, and from the very beginning, they have treated him with such compassion, patience, and genuine love. The therapists consistently go above and beyond—not just for my son, but for our entire family. They take the time to listen, support, and celebrate every milestone with us, no matter how big or small. They truly care about each child they work with.”
